Last week, the shipment of electrical equipment manufactured by CJSC Electronmash to one of the venues of the Sochi 2014 Olympics began. The electrical equipment will be installed on the territory of the Krasnaya Polyana ski complex and is intended to provide power to the artificial snowmaking system on the ski slopes of the Olympic complex.

The contract for the supply of electrical equipment to the 2014 Olympic Games facility was signed between ROSENGINEERING CJSC, the general contractor of Gazprom Socinvest LLC, and Electronmash CJSC in November 2009. At the same time, representatives of ROSENGINEERING CJSC visited the production of Electronmash, including new production facilities in the industrial zone of Parnas in St. Petersburg.

The problem of climatic conditions in Sochi has been repeatedly raised in the media, as holding winter sports competitions in a subtropical climate zone is not an easy task. It is worth remembering that the Olympics held in Vancouver did not please athletes and fans not only with the failure of the Russian national team, but also with the weather conditions. The poor quality of the ski slopes became a serious problem for athletes when, as the leadership of the Vancouver 2010 organizing committee, they expressed full confidence that problems with snow cover could be solved.

Of course, the negative experience cannot be ignored in the preparation of our Sochi Olympics, and the seriousness of the problem of providing ski slopes with appropriate equipment has been significantly assessed. According to the management of the Electronmash company, the experience of the Winter Olympics in Canada can and should serve as a reason to maximize the use of available resources to ensure decent conditions for athletes.
